Behind the Scenes with Justin Klemer of Pepper's Senior Dog Sanctuary

Dawn Mimnaugh/Justin Klemer Season 8 Episode 5

This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Justin Klemer, Co-founder of Pepper's Senior Dog Sanctuary in Littleton, Colorado.

Running a dog sanctuary requires more than just fulfilling basic needs. Justin knows this all too well. His experience at the sanctuary has taught him the intricate details and immense responsibility that come with it, and he shares his insight with us.

Pepper's Senior Dog Sanctuary (PSDS) is a haven of love and care exclusively designed for senior dogs in need. At their veterinarian-supervised sanctuary, precious older dogs find their forever home where they will be cherished until their last breaths. Unlike traditional dog sanctuaries, PSDS fills a crucial void by catering specifically to the unique requirements of elderly dogs. While they may not offer typical retiree activities like shuffleboard, they provide an array of amenities that make Pepper's a true luxury retreat for senior pups.

Their commitment to personalized attention sets them apart from other sanctuaries. Each dog receives either small group or one-on-one care, depending on their preferences and needs.

The dedicated team at PSDS is made up of professionally trained staff members and volunteers who go above and beyond to ensure that every resident feels safe, loved, and content throughout their stay.
